DAMIEN: MAGIC MAN
The Story
Damien was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 2nd 1983 as Manuel Velez Jr.- Damien is really his nick name, from his friends and people he's done magic on, Damien started doing magic since the age of 9, he lived with his mother and father named Aida Cortes and Manuel Velez Sir.
They were very close to him and very supportive to him and his magic, even though they worked when Damien was a little child. Damien spent most of his time at his local library reading books on magic and magicians. Damien says he was close to his father and when he dies it hit him really hard, "I loved my father alot and with all my heart like I love my mother, when he died, it was like everything stopped for me and I was not able to do anything for a while".
Damien's first tricks was the Three Card Monte "I felt like I hand magic in my hands even when I had a deck of cards for the first time, it just felt right in my hands. I used to get baseball scores right before the game even started", he says. At 16 Damien levitated for a few people at his church, who then immediately called him the devil for doing that.
Damien was getting noticed not only by his magic but also on the streets on New York .Damien wanted more than just to be performing at parties and in school, he wanted to be on TV and all can see his skill's in street magic. He wishes that some day his dream of being on TV can come true so all can see and know who is Damien: Magic Man!
