Better images (from the working camera) and Fiona's write-up coming soon...

Fiona and I were lucky to have a short holiday in the 'UK' last year where we caught up with several ex-members of the Society and toured Scotland for a a few days with d'UGH and Toni. We managed to get as far as the Orkney islands and back. A big thank to everyone who helped with this holiday.

Harlich Castle in Wales.

One of the many King Edward built to try and keep the locals at bay.

d'UGH and Toni at Portmarion in Wales.

This is most famous as the setting of the '60s TV series The Prisioner.

Glasgow University registery building.

Very similiar to Otago's - so similiar I suspect some copied someone else....

Glen Coe from the window of a Vaxhall.

The width of the road is an optical illusion. Roads in the UK are all narrow and have no shoulder - as we later found out on road beside Loch Ness...

Carbisdale Castle, north of Inverness.

The former home of Lady Sutherland is now a wonderful backpackers you can stay in for under 20 pounds a night. You might recognise it from the background of this site. Oh and there's the Vaxhall again...

View from Stirling Castle.

A far more interesting Castle to visit than Edinburgh.

Grand Hall, Stirling Castle.

Pock marks left by Jacobite cannon-fire when they tried to seize the Castle in the 1745 rebellion.

Myself overlooking Culloden.

Culloden.

Legend has it that you can still see the blood of the slain at Culloden - this 'blood' colour is of course common in all Scottish peat bogs.
Legend aside, it is still a very sad and moving place.
Imagine charging accross this boggy overgrown ground under the fire of cannons and guns...
