If you are not familiar with Scots you may have wondered what this word means in the Proclaimers’ song I would walk (500 Miles):

And when I haver,
You know I’m gonna be,
I’m gonna be the man who’s havering to you...

Haver or haiver (pronounced hay-ver) To haver is to talk nonsense; what’s she havering about? To describe what someone is saying as havers is to say that they are talking nonsense: don’t give me your havers!
