Highland & Gaelic Society Under New Management
18 March 2004
NEW COMMITTEE
For those of you who couldnt make it to last
nights AGM, weve got a new Committee for the
Society. Im the secretary and, for those who dont
know me, Ive been with the Society for a few years
now and also run a couple of others.
ENCAMPMENT
There will be an encampment this year, taking place
a week this Saturday. Well have a couple of
workshops on culturally-related themes (more details
later) then preparation for and doing of Battle with
the Imperial Russian Army and maybe a couple of other
groups. Then well be eating, drinking, telling lies,
etc, etc. A couple of the longer-term members have an
unsettled duel or two to settle in entertaining ways
which is always interesting.
Well leave town on Saturday afternoon and return
hopefully for lunch on Sunday. Youll need stuff to
eat with and off and anything you want to wear and
sleep under. We've got a brew of mead we put down a
few months ago and youll probably want to bring
something of your own.
Cost: $25 cheaper if you have your own transport
and cheaper still if you can put someone else in it.
I think we can make it cheaper if its significantly
so there'll be a refund, if not therell be whisky.
Well need definite numbers and some money by
Thursday 25th at the latest. Contact me if you can make it.
SCOTS WHA HAE!!
Gregor, HiSoc Secretary
Encampment Cancelled due to lack of numbers
9 March 2004
There will not be a Highland & Gaelic Society encampment this weekend; we
have not succeeded in attracting enough peoples interest. Refunds
available on request.
I realize that this disappointing result may be due to too many people being
busy at that particular time, and I therefore invite our members to suggest
another weekend when a campout may be more convenient.
Id also like to remind people that the Highland & Gaelic Society runs on
member interest. Im not the Society all by myself. What do our members
want to do as a group this year? Talk to me, people.

Irish Music Monday recommences sort of
25 January 2004
Yes, its true; Half Legendary Men will once again be playing Irish music on
Monday nights. But there are a couple of changes from the old format.
- Its in Dicey OReillys, not the Albert, about 8pm till 10.
- Theyre not doing a stage performance, its an informal affair around a
table with one microphone. I guess if it gets more popular theyll expand. Hint, hint.
