The MatSu Trails Council, a non-profit group of trail users, businesses with an interest in trails, and land managing agencies was organized to assist and support agencies responsible for trail planning, programming, policies, construction, and maintenance with emphasis in the Matanuska, Susitna, Nelchina, Upper Nenana, and Knik River areas.
Land use patterns are rapidly changing. It is critical to have an organized group that reflects and represents trail uses for social and economic values. A strong trails council is an effective means for resolving trails issues and for promoting and accomplishing trails programs and projects.
