VINYL FROM THE 70's & 80's

We've been receiving more and more requests for reissues of some recordings on the old SonyaTone and Hen Cackle lables, originally released on vinyl during the last millennium. Recently, we have made available two selections from our back catalog.

1) HC-501 "The Barnyard Dance" American folk songs for children by Peter Feldmann (with Alicia Bottoms / Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan). 14 songs, ballads, and tunes from traditional repertoire for children aged 5 years old on up. CD reissue of the original Lp. $ 15.00

2) STI-105 "How To Play Carter Style Guitar" A teaching album for beginners wanting to learn the ins and outs of Maybelle Carter's seminal guitar stylings. Complete with booklet of tabs and words to songs. Includes: Worried Man Blues, John Hardy, Engine 143, Can The Circle be Unbroken, Gospel Ship, East Virginia Blues, Wildwood Flower and six others. This month, we have two shows by Peter Feldmann & The Very Lonesome Boys:

[1] Tuesday, August 7th, 8:00 PM at Soho, 1221 State Street in Santa Barbara CA. Reservations & info: (805) 962-7776.

[2] Sunday, August 12th, 2:00 PM at Peter Strauss Ranch, Agoura, CA. A free show, sponsored by the National Park Service.

To get to Peter Strauss Ranch: Take the Ventura Freeway (101) to Kanan Road exit. Go south on Kanan Road 2.8 miles to Troutdale Road. Turn left on Troutdale Road to Mulholland Highway. Turn left on Mulholland Highway then right under the arch into the parking lot. Walk back across the bridge on Mulholland Highway and enter the main gate into the ranch. Free Parking. Visitors are encouraged to come early, bring a picnic lunch and lounge in comfort on the 21,000 square foot lawn while waiting for the music to begin. The ranch is an historic site, and features a shaded outdoor amphitheater for shows.

Peter's band, "The Very Lonesome Boys", includes Peter on mandolin, bassist Tom Lee and guitarist Mike Nadolson, with the banjo duties being performed by multi-instrumentalist David West. Tom and David are known for their work with the progressive bluegrass group, "The Cache Valley Drifters" while Fiddlin' Tommy Marton, a former student of Byron Berline's, hails from the Texas contest fiddling tradition. Mike Nadolson, a fine singer and guitarist, heads Tricopolis Records in Lake Elsinore. Peter has been performing and presenting bluegrass and related musics in California and Nevada since the early 1960's, and is known as the founder of the Santa Barbara Old Time Fiddler's Convention and the original Bluebird Cafe‚ in Santa Barbara. The 30th annual Santa Barbara Old Time Fiddlers' Convention will be held at the Stow House, 304 N. Los Carneros Rd, Goleta, CA on Sunday October 14th, all day. Peter Feldmann, the founder of the event, will be featured for the noontime entertainment along with Tom Sauber and Richard Greene in the trio "Tom, Dick, & Pete".
