This is the Tamiya Ford F150 on the beach. It is an electric car with full time 4 wheel drive configuration. Powered by a Mabuchi 540 stock motor, this model is slightly underpowered out of the box. The first upgrade was the installation of ball bearings to replace the plastic bushings. Ball bearings makes the car faster and more durable. The second upgrade was to replace the rear tires with Tamiya's Type B slicks. This dramatically made the car very easy to handle, even with the speed of modified motors. The final upgrade was to replace the rear friction shock absorbers with Tamiya's oil filled shock absorbers to prevent the rear end from bouncing around. Overall this is a very fun car to play with, with a good solid chassis and very smooth gear/shaft transmission. With the appropriate upgrades this model can hustle quickly around a track. As proof, this car took 3rd place in the 1999 Honda slalom challenge, coming second only to two modified HPI touring cars.
