Although Kanao is neither a member of this organization nor a Hindu, as a person who feels sympathy with their activities and is deeply impressed with their artistry, I'd like to introduce The Temple of Fine Arts Penang. I really thank The Temple of Fine Arts that they permitted me to take photographs of their activities and to display them on my private site. The right to refuse to be exposed of these photographs is reserved by The Temple of Fine Arts and the copyright of them is reserved by Kanao.

Kanaoは The Temple of Fine Arts The Temple of Fine Arts に感謝の意を表します。これらの写真の肖像権は The Temple of Fine Arts に帰属し、著作権は Kanao に帰属します。

The Temple of Fine Arts (Article reproduced from their leaflet)

The Temple of Fine Arts idea is based on a simple dictum - serve, love, give. Touching the self in a way that goodness and decency invariably surface, it promotes sensitivity to one's environment; a sense of harmony with fellow men. It teaches the value of faith in oneself and the importance of "shrada" or right effort.

Since The Temple of Fine Arts Penang first took shape as an institution that teaches dance and music, it has grown in many ways, evolving into an organization that would first of all serve the community through the Arts. It has staged numerous dance and music productions under the creative guidance of its founder Swami Shantanand Sarawathi. These performances have given us the opportunity to experiment in cross-cultural influences so as to transcend the various ethnic groups of our society.

Apart form serving through the Arts, we also serve by providing free medical aid to the urban poor. Klinik Derma SivaSanta has now been given a chance to the serve the sick and needy in Penang. This has been made possible with a premise being generously provided by the Penang City Coucil.

"Annalakshmi" is the culinary arts center where a unique variety of vegetarian cuisine is served in a homely atmosphere. In every way, it is where vegetarian dining is a cultural experience.

Lavanya, the visual arts center of the TFA, is perhaps the only selective repository on Indian Art outside the sub-continent. With artifacts representing the length and breadth of India, Lavanya is indeed a veritable treasure trove.

At the Temple of Fine Arts, it is our responsibility to continue to balance the strength and tradition of our past with the opportunity and challenge of the future.
