The Missoula Law Enforcement
Memorial Dedication took place on July 22, 2000 at 4:00pm in Rose Memorial
Park. Various Law Enforcement Agencies attended from Montana and
as far away as Kennewick, WA. This date coincided with the Montana
Police Protective Association's Convention held here in Missoula.
Thus a very special gathering indeed.
Guest speaker was
TV and Movie Screen fame, Carroll O'Connor introduced by Deputy Chris Schultz
of the Missoula County Sheriff's Office. Mr. O'Connor presented a
heart felt speech. Prior to Mr. O'Connor speaking was Donelle Gregory,
daughter of the late Sgt. Donald Gregory. As Donelle spoke, reading
poems, the meaning of the Law Enforcement was felt by all within their
hearts as evidenced by their tears.
Mick Holien our friend
and reporter for the Missoulian was yet another of the speakers and very
much appreciated for his never-ending support of law enforcement.
It was emphasized
by Missoula County Sheriff Doug Chase and Missoula Police Chief Pete Lawrenson
that our prayers are that no more names need be added to this memorial
or any other like it around the country. We hope here that this stays
so.
Special thanks to all who attended including the following:
The People
of Missoula and it's County.
Mr. Carroll
O'Connor
The members
and delegates of the Montana Police Protective Association
Officer
Rick Marquette of the Kennewick, WA Police Department
Members
of all the local Missoula Law Enforcement Agencies
Members
of the Missoula Fire Department and Missoula Area EMT Community
And all
who have either contributed funds or their time to this very worth while
project.
