February Meeting

Our February meeting was held at Cavatore's Restaurant. Attending were Glennie, Karin, Beverly, Shirley, Julia, Linda, Theresa, Rachel, Shelley, Cindy and our guest Vickie Regis.

Linda had some interesting ideas to present and gave us a lot to think about. Shirley presented Beverly with a miniature piano and a lovely card thanking her for her work on the web page. They also presented her with a gift for her daughter Bonnie Reinert, who has been helping out with the project.

It was decided to have many of our meetings in member's homes. The officers made plans to meet and discuss the coming year's events bearing in mind it is a big year for PEG. We will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary.

NEXT MEETING

Cindy's House
If anyone does not know the address, please refer to your roster. If you have mislaid it, please contact Beverly or Shirley who will send you another. It is important that you keep this information because we will not be publishing phone numbers or personal addresses of our members on the internet.

Please try to attend this meeting. The Executive Committee met recently and tentatively planned the activities and meetings for the coming year. They are real excited about it but want your input and ideas so that we can have a fun yet informative year.

Some of the ideas to toss around

A swap meet
Style show and day at Chico's
A Twentieth Anniversary Gala
including food, drinks and entertainment and an original show performed by us.

A Decision has been made on our Web Page We purchased a domain name for us "peghouston.com" It was difficult to decide what to call ourselves on the web and this ended up to be the best and easiest to remember. We also have the page on a local server at the cost of $14.95 a month, the first month being free. So now you can just put in the following to access our page. http://www.peghouston.com
Theresa showed us a copy of a cd she had recorded recently.

Many of us have cd's that we would like to sell along with the copies of our Christmas cd that are left. We discussed combining cd sales with our Twentieth Anniversary Gala.

Business is not that good for the piano players in town, so when Angel learned about a job where she could sing and bring an accompaniest along, she quickly went to the manager.

"Let me hear a couple of tunes", he said and Angel obliged.

"That was pretty good, but I just love When Sunny Gets Blue, if you can do that the job is yours."

"Oh no", she whispered to the piano player, I don't really know that song."

"Sing it anyway", he said, " I'll help you out if you get stuck".

She started singing, "When Sunny Gets Blue" and then she looked at the piano player for help.

"Fm7" he whispered to her.

I've had people come up and sing with me and I practically had to feed them the words to the whole song.

One night, in a silly mood (what else is new), this man got up to sing and he couldn't understand English very well. He was singing For the Good Times. I had a great time giving him the wrong words. I substituted funny words for every line I could think of. When he was finished and we told him why everyone was laughing so much, he took it all with a sense of humor.

See you at Cindy's.
