Air war prisoners- B-17 crew

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

June 23,1944.
 A " B-17" bomber ("Opissonya"  42-5951 from 341-st Bomb squadron of 97 bomb group) is hit and damaged over ploest, Rumania. On his flight back to Italy ,the bomber is attacked over Karlovo, Bulgaria by 4 bulg. pilots with Me-109 f. planes and is shot down .The bomber's crew parachuted out with exception of liet. David Kingslay who gave his parachute to the wounded serg. Stanley Kmiec and died when" Opissonnya "crashed in a tree .
